3 Easy Ways To Keep Your Blog Content Fresh

One of the best things you can do for your site is to build depth in your blogs for topics that you want to rank well for with the search engines.  The more posts search engines see on a particular topic, the more Google and the like will come to understand that this is what your website is about.  But for those that have been blogging for more than a month knows, coming up with post after post for a topic can be daunting at times.

Keep Your Blog Content FreshMany people set out to thoroughly cover a topic and start with scads of information in their brain.  Unfortunately, after six months or less, their fresh knowledge and passion have dwindled.

So how to the pros do it?  How can a pro-blogger keep churning out fresh articles for years, even decades?  Below are tips and tricks from the pros that will keep you going strong, long after the competition has hung up its hat:

  • Build a Content Listening Station:  Since our brains hold only so much knowledge, it is imperative to look for websites, blogs, magazines, and newspapers that will feed your need for new information.  I recommend using a blog aggregator like Google Reader to organize the blogs you find.  The layout is easy on the eyes and you can keep abreast of ten or so sources with relative ease.
  • Create a Content Calendar:  Having some structure to your posting will help you know what to look for as you cull all the new information you have found.  Any amount of information over four or five blogs will be overwhelming to the human brain.  So automatically narrowing down what you are looking for on a particular day helps.  It also will alert you to flags blogs for future days when you will be blogging on a related topic.
  • Blog on both “evergreen content” and latest news:  For most bloggers, they will blog on items that will never have an expiration date.  This is good, since you want a post to last for years.  But occasionally, when news breaks within your niche, you will want to comment on it.  You readers will thank you for a fresh perspective on the latest news, and it will give you a break from the normal routine of blog writing.

Blogging can be a rewarding way to build an audience, gain trust, and get the news out about you and your business.  For those that learn the disciplines of online writing, it can also be enjoyable.  So get out there and craft content like a pro.
